This year we're taking you on a musical journey through time. Every concert shows how composers in different eras looked and and responded to the same ideas, or how they have developed over time.

Imagine composers in the first decades of the 1900s revisiting the music of JS Bach, what might they have written? Well, Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks Concerto is, in all but name, another Brandenburg Concerto, but with a distinctly modern voice. Each piece in this programme, the Britten Sinfonietta, the Stravinsky, and two pieces by Bach, exploit small forces and make soloists of the orchestral musicians.
