Autumnal music by Finzi with top soloist Emma Johnson, a pastoral symphony describing the landscape in northern France during World War I, and "the next great Adagio" after those by Mahler and Barber. Enjoy this powerful music in the peaceful setting of Sheffield Cathedral.

Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue played by Christopher Devine is on the bill alongside Kurt Weill’s suite from The Lady in the Dark, a musical which he wrote with Ira Gershwin, and William Grant Still’s First Symphony, evocative of spirituals, jazz and the blues.
